Childhood injury left me with little interest in sports and lots of time to read. I love a good story, which is why I follow a couple shows online and watch movies. But I loathe most of what I see on regular programming. And most commercials.
There’s an old Groucho Marx quote about him finding TV very educational; every time someone turned one on, he went into the other room to read a book. That was compounded by the incessant anti-tv, quasi-Luddite preaching I heard as a new convert.
I still don’t want one all these years later, but for more considered reasons.
You have no TV? Interesting.
I have a small HDTV which I rarely watch (you /have/ to watch your local NFL team in HD) but I watch a lot of stuff on my computer.
