End of the Year Tally

Closing out the year, I want to say ‘Thank you’ to everyone who took the time to buy/listen to one of my stories. Writing is a solitary endeavor, spent mostly in my own head with imaginary friends and enemies in made-up places, so your support and encouragement mean far more than I can ever fully express. I am grateful and humbled. 2018 I’m not ashamed to admit last year writing-wise was a slog. Felt like it was all uphill. In the rain. At night. I did manage to put out the Mil-SF… Read More

Zombie 6: new Mil-SF

Bit of writing news for the new year. I’ve decided to alternate fiction projects in 2017. My first and main effort continues to be the post-apocalypse fantasy novel Shattered Worlds,  (currently hammering out Act II, Into the Scorned Lands) while the second, ‘mistress project’, is a straight up military science fiction novella presently titled Zombie 6. Focused on a spec-ops team ordered to support the embattled Colonial Administration Security forces on the mining colony Mèng Tiān, Zombie 6 will be offered free here on HSSJ as it progresses. I have added a… Read More

A Shift Tense ask

I know folks are busy, but could a couple of you break the ice and fire off reviews for the Shift Tense compilation? Short and sweet will do it. Anything to let potential readers know it’s being/been read. The other three combined had 30 or so, and it would be cool to start the ball rolling for this edition. LINK TO KINDLE EDITION Thanks much. Have an excellent day.

A shift in Shift Tense

Important Notice to all Eshu International readers. I have decided to compile the three previously published Shift Tense novellas – Red Flags, Soldier Dreams, and Angels – into a single volume. The serialization strategy did not work as intended and I believe a single novel will serve everyone better in the long run. I apologize for any hassle, misunderstanding, or bad feelings. It was never my intention to inconvenience or mislead anyone. By way of compensation to anyone who has purchased one or two of the novellas, I am offering all three… Read More

No free rides on the Amazon?

Trying to offer the first portions of the Eshu International novels Running Black and Shift Tense for Free at Amazon. (The Shift Tense serialization doesn’t work as intended, so Red Flags, Soldier Dreams and Angels would be unpublished, then rolled into one complete volume.) However, I can’t work around KDP’s minimum .99 pricing.  It seems Amazon no longer lets you offer books at no cost. (why should they, I guess) So should I… 1. Price them at .99, then use the Amazon Free Book Promotion as often as possible? 2. Leave… Read More

‘Sozo’ Release Notes

First off, thanks to everyone who takes a chance on my books, wanders by the blog, takes time to comment or review. Your interest is inspiring, your feedback invaluable. I can’t express my appreciation enough. So here’s ‘Sozo’, one final title for 2014. I’m encouraged by this short story. I had a sense of breakthrough when I finished, as if I’d I’d some how, some way, transitioned to a different place in my writing. Now this particular piece uses a rather dark palette, but I gave myself permission to write it the… Read More

Give Angels some love?

Asking if someones could give Shift Tense: Angels some Amazon love. It’s the third and final section of the Shift Tense story and that lone review is looking kinda sad after all this time. Thanks much.

Stuck at 39

Running Black reviews, that is. Here’s the ask: if you’ve read and enjoyed RB, would you do me solid and fire off a short, honest review on Amazon? Cresting 40 is an itch I’d like scratched – and sock puppets aren’t my thing. Thanks much. Back to writing.

Sci Fi is Sin?

The first in a series titled “Spitballs from Baptisneyland.”* It deals with Christian worldview issues. So you’ve been warned. IT’LL JUMP ON YOU! I’m old enough and been around church long enough to remember the “Rock and Roll is Devil’s music” debate. “Words and motives don’t matter! Drums and electric guitars are Satan’s tools. It’s the beat – that pagan, idol-worshipping beat.” Never mind God considers the heart before the appearance, that character and content matter more than cosmetics, that the root determines the fruit… scores of the faithful were burning other… Read More

Asking a favor

I hope this isn’t an “ask too far,” but if anyone has read and enjoyed any of my books, could you fire off a quick, honest review for Amazon and/or GoodReads? Even if you weren’t thrilled, that’s fine too. So long as it’s legit. I’m not looking for shill and gush. Genuine reviews (and review numbers) are critical for new or potential readers, and this Indie Sci Fi author needs all the help he can get. To sweeten the deal, I’ll give away two 11″ x 17″ posters of the cover art… Read More
